GDS 172 - Blog 2
The typographic arrangement used on this text tends to express death which it could be a dark and sad emotion (tone). The voice tone on this text is mysterious but at the same time depressive and sad. The typographic arrangement of the letter "i" which stands out the most gives a better view of what death is all bout. Its interesting to know that the black background, and gray color on the text brings reinforcement to that emotion of sadness. This image is a great example of how text can be positioned and combined with different darker colors to have its own expressive voice. Listening to type tends to be understood better when the message is not to complicated. In this case a simple typeface, few darker colors, and the position of one character differently than the others gave this design a clear voice.

GDS 172 - Blog 1
“Elegance is not the abundance of simplicity. It is the absence of complexity.”
This calligraphy example has basic decorations strokes that make it look elegant and attractive. I have seen many new forms of calligraphy styles lately and they go to far with decorations all over the place that things end up looking too complex.
There are many calligraphy looking typefaces today, but only a few tend to look elegant. One of my favorite calligraphy looking typefaces is Adios Script. Adios Script has basic simple ornamental ascenders and descenders allowing a beautiful interplay of strokes and combinations, while avoiding overlaps or conflicts (complexity).
